HelioScope uses both Google Maps and Bing Maps, but high-resolution images can be imported from other providers. Users with an EagleView or CONNECTExplorer account can easily upload photos and high-resolution imagery into HelioScope using KML files. The following guide describes saving and uploading a geo-located KML file from EagleView.
Inside EagleView
- Search for the project location site in EagleView.
- Set the view to straight up and down by clicking the small black dot under the compass (top-right of the screen).
- Click Preferences and scroll down to Export Image file type to KML (LatLonBox).
- Click the exit door icon on the bottom right of the page to save the high-resolution image.
- Export just the visible area or the entire image.
Inside HelioScope
- Create a project in HelioScope based on the same address as before.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab and select Overlays.
- Drag and drop or select the KML file created by EagleView.
- Toggle the overlay on and off using the eye button.
- The updated image can be used as a base for designs and will be included in the final report if Overlays are selected.
